5507-1503 (BCR) Burton Compatible 55 series BULKHEAD PIN INSERT 20 shell 3 pin

Burton-compatible 55 series Bulkhead (BCR) — 15 shell, 3 pin, rated 600V DC / 10A per contact. Drymate subsea connector for ROV, umbilical, and offshore applications. Interchangeable with Burton 5500 series.

55 Series Compatible Bulkhead (BCR) — Shell 15, 3 Pin

This 55 series compatible bulkhead (bcr) delivers field-proven performance in demanding subsea environments, engineered to the same dimensional and electrical interface standards as the industry-standard 5500 series drymate connector family. Whether deployed on ROV toolskids, umbilical termination frames, or subsea instrument housings, this connector offers a reliable, cost-effective alternative with full interchangeability.

Specified with a 15 shell size and 3-pin contact configuration, the connector delivers 600V DC / 10A per contact per contact through gold-plated beryllium-copper contacts seated in proprietary neoprene inserts — the same material system that has proven reliable in subsea deployments for over five decades.

Key Design Features

  • Full 55 Series Interchangeability — matches OEM dimensional standards for plug-in replacement in existing installations
  • High-Density Contact Layout — 3 gold-plated contacts in shell size 15 for compact, high-current capability
  • Proprietary Neoprene Inserts — chemically resistant, pressure-stable sealing in a single moulded body
  • Passivated 316L Stainless Steel Shell — resists biofouling and seawater corrosion in long-term deployments
  • Drymate Design — de-energise before mating; optimised for topside or in-air connection prior to deployment
  • Pressure Balanced Oil Filled (PBOF) Option — available as 55P variant for pressure-compensation at depth
  • Configurable Tail Lengths — standard 4 ft, 10 ft, and 15 ft pigtail options; custom lengths available
  • Rated to 10,000 psi — suitable for work-class ROV depths and deep-water observatory infrastructure

Why Choose a 55 Series Compatible Connector

Proven Interface Standard

The 5500 series connector interface has been the subsea industry standard for over 55 years. Our compatible connectors meet the same dimensional envelope, allowing direct replacement in existing system architectures without modification to mating hardware.

Cost-Effective Procurement

Qualified 55 series compatible connectors deliver the same electrical and mechanical performance at competitive pricing — reducing total lifecycle costs without compromising on reliability or interchangeability.

Wide Voltage and Current Range

Available in 600V, 1kV, 2kV, 3kV, and 5kV ratings across all shell sizes, with current ratings from 10A to 220A — covering everything from low-power sensor signals to main power distribution circuits.

Multiple Configuration Options

The 55 series family includes cable plugs (CCP), bulkhead (BCR), flange (FCR), right-angle, dummy, and PBOF variants. Mix and match within the same shell size for system-level flexibility.

Globally Supported

55 series compatible connectors are stocked and supplied worldwide, with documentation, test reports, and dimensional drawings available on request for qualification and as-built records.

Installation and Maintenance Guidelines

Pre-Deployment Inspection

Inspect O-rings and neoprene inserts for nicks, cuts, or compression set before every deployment. Apply a thin film of approved silicone grease (non-petroleum based) to O-ring seating surfaces. Verify pin alignment and check for evidence of corrosion or pitting on contact surfaces.

Mating Procedure

Always de-energise the circuit before mating or de-mating a drymate connector. Align the keying features before applying axial force. Engage the coupling ring finger-tight, then tighten to the specified torque (typically 15–20 in-lb unless otherwise noted). Do not use pipe wrenches or pliers on the coupling ring.

Post-Recovery Maintenance

Flush connector faces with clean fresh water immediately after recovery. Inspect for biofouling in the pin cavity and remove with a soft brush. Store with dust caps or mated dummy plugs to protect contact surfaces. Reapply silicone grease prior to re-deployment.
