Screened flat cable for hoisting gears transportation systems machine tools

Screened Flat Cable for Hoisting Gears, Transportation Systems & Machine Tools

Screened flat cables for hoisting, transportation, and machine tool applications combine the neat routing advantages of flat cable construction with an overall electromagnetic screen — providing interference immunity for the control and signal conductors that share the cable body with power cores. These cables are the preferred wiring solution for overhead cranes, automated guided vehicles, conveyor lines, and CNC machine tools where variable-speed drives, servo amplifiers, and fieldbus wiring must coexist in a compact, tidy installation.

The overall copper braid or foil screen with drain wire is connected at the control panel end, providing a low-impedance EMC ground return path. Available in 300/500V rated versions; 4 to 30 cores; 0.5 mm² to 6 mm²; flat PVC, rubber, or PUR outer sheath; temperature range ‑40°C to +80°C.

Selection Guide

Braid Screen vs Foil Screen

Copper braid screens provide superior low-frequency shielding and lower DC resistance — preferred for screened power cables where 50/60 Hz interference suppression is the priority. Aluminium-polyester foil screens offer better high-frequency attenuation and lighter weight — preferred for fieldbus and data signal screening above 1 MHz.

Overall Screen vs Individual Pair Screening

An overall screen protects all conductors from external EMI but does not prevent inter-pair crosstalk. For cables carrying both power and sensitive analogue or encoder signals, specify individual pair shielding within an overall screened flat cable for full isolation.
