The SEMOFLEX DRUM is a 600/1000V rated drum and reeling cable constructed with a polyurethane (PUR) outer sheath designed for continuous flexing service on cable drums, reels, festoon systems, and moving machinery. The PUR sheath provides outstanding mechanical toughness, abrasion resistance, and oil resistance across the full operating temperature range of ‑40°C to +90°C — far exceeding the flex life of PVC-sheathed drum cables in equivalent dynamic applications. The cable is designed to withstand the radial compressive forces of drum winding and the bending stresses of repeated reeling/unreeling without conductor fatigue or sheath cracking.
Conductor construction uses highly stranded fine-wire conductors (Class 6 or equivalent to IEC 60228) to maximise bending fatigue resistance — the large number of fine copper strands distributes bending stress across many conductors, dramatically extending flex life compared to Class 5 flexible or Class 2 stranded conductors. The SEMOFLEX DRUM is available in power (2–4 core), power+control, and control-only configurations across a wide cross-section range to suit crane, hoist, material handling, and ROV deployment winch systems.

PUR drum cables are mandatory wherever: (1) oil or hydraulic fluid contamination is present — PVC swells and degrades in oil; (2) operating temperatures drop below ‑15°C — PVC becomes brittle; (3) the application involves high-speed reeling or tight bend radii that exceed PVC fatigue limits; or (4) the cable runs outside and is exposed to UV radiation over the system service life. For indoor, oil-free, moderate-temperature drum applications where cost is the primary constraint, standard PVC reeling cable may be acceptable.
