PUR braid-reinforced round reeling cable for tunnel boring machines (TBM) and shield machines. Extreme abrasion resistance, 0.6/1 kV, flexible at low temperatures. Custom lengths available.
Shield tunnelling machines (TBMs) impose the most extreme mechanical demands on power cables — continuous reeling, high tensile loads, exposure to water, hydraulic oils, concrete slurry, and mechanical abrasion from rotating equipment. This PUR braid-reinforced reeling cable is engineered specifically to survive TBM and shield machine environments.
The open braid reinforcement layer over the inner sheath provides compressive and tensile protection, while the outer PUR compound resists abrasion, oil, and chemical attack. Very finely stranded Class FS conductors ensure reliable electrical performance through continuous reel-and-extend operation.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Rated Voltage | 0.6/1 kV |

| Reinforcement | Open braid over inner sheath |
| Max Conductor Temp | 90 °C |
| Max Tensile Load | 25–30 N/mm² (design dependent) |
| Torsional Stress | ±50°/m |
| Flex Operation Temp | −35 °C to +80 °C |
| Water Resistance | Yes — wet tunnelling environments |
| Oil Resistance | Yes — DIN EN 60811-404 |
The open braid reinforcement prevents sheath crushing and radial deformation when cables are subjected to compressive loads from equipment passages — a failure mode common in TBM environments.
Concrete slurry, hydraulic oil, and tunnel lubricants attack standard rubber sheaths within weeks. PUR compound maintains integrity for years in continuous chemical exposure.
The tight PUR sheath construction and water-resistant inner layers prevent moisture ingress — critical in below-water-table tunnelling work.
Combined anti-torsion braid and Class FS conductors withstand millions of reel-and-extend cycles without conductor or insulation fatigue.
