The Drumflex KSM-S is a high-capacity drum reeling cable engineered for large crane power applications where maximum current-carrying capacity is required within a minimised cable outer diameter. The reduced earth conductor section (split-earth design) optimises the cable's cross-sectional geometry — allowing a larger phase conductor in the same overall diameter compared to full-earth designs.
Construction follows (N)SHTOEU principles: special EPR (PROTOLON) insulation, PCP-based inner and outer sheath (PROTOFIRM), and an anti-torsion polyester braid vulcanized between sheaths — delivering the full 30 N/mm² tensile rating and 240 m/min travel speed of the rubber crane cable family.

By splitting the earth conductor across three interstice positions rather than carrying a full-size earth, the KSM-S design allows a larger phase cross-section within the same total cable OD — delivering higher current capacity without increasing drum size or cable weight.
The distinctive yellow PROTOFIRM sheath provides immediate visual identification on the crane structure and reel drum — a safety benefit in large multi-cable installations.
Despite the optimised geometry, the anti-torsion polyester braid retains full ±50°/m torsional endurance — ensuring long service life on fast-moving gantry crane drums.
