Our 6 mm² single core solar cable is the preferred specification for commercial and industrial PV systems where higher string currents or longer string cable runs demand a larger conductor cross-section to control voltage drop and I²R losses. Constructed with a Class 5 tinned copper conductor and cross-linked polyolefin (XLPO) insulation and sheath, this cable is TUV approved to EN 50618 (H1Z2Z2-K) and rated at 1500V DC.
The 6 mm² conductor offers approximately 40% lower resistance than 4 mm² — translating directly into reduced power losses over long string runs in large rooftop or ground-mount arrays. This is particularly significant in hot-climate installations where high ambient temperature de-rates ampacity and makes larger conductors more economical over a 25-year system life. The tinned copper conductor resists the galvanic corrosion that occurs when bare copper contacts the tin-plated copper pins in standard MC4-compatible connectors.

Upgrade from 4 mm² to 6 mm² when: string cable one-way length exceeds 25 m; string current exceeds 15A; ambient temperature regularly exceeds 60°C; or when a lifetime energy yield calculation shows the reduced I²R loss of 6 mm² delivers a positive ROI within 5–8 years of system operation.
